As part of Environmental Week, during which the Original Group trains its employees, the “Water and Unique Health” training was successfully held on November 19 and 20 at the Temptation, Desire Riviera Maya, and Desire Riviera Maya Pearl Resort hotels. This event, aimed at employees, sought to raise awareness about the importance of water in human health, ecosystem conservation, and sustainable development.

The training was conducted by M. en C. Jessica Nubia Sarmiento, director of the association Blue Hope, Water for the World, an organization dedicated to environmental education on water conservation. This activity is part of the foundation’s ongoing efforts to foster a culture of conservation and responsible water use, highlighting its commitment to awareness and training in various sectors.

Throughout the training sessions, participants acquired key knowledge on topics such as water conservation, efficient resource use, hygiene and health, as well as the importance of ecosystems and water reserves. Through interactive and dynamic sessions, attendees were able to reflect on the impact of water use in their environment and the actions they can take to optimize their consumption both in the hotel industry and in their personal lives.

The event highlighted the fundamental relationship between water quality and human health, promoting best practices in managing this vital resource within the tourism industry. Strategies were discussed to reduce water waste, improve efficiency in its use, and strengthen hotels’ environmental responsibility, thus contributing to the region’s sustainability.

The organizers expressed their gratitude for the commitment and active participation of the employees from Temptation, Desire Riviera Maya, and Desire Riviera Maya Pearl Resort hotels, who showed great interest in adopting measures that promote water conservation. During the training, employees demonstrated great enthusiasm for the foundation’s activities, even expressing their desire to integrate and sponsor a school in the state, supporting it in water conservation and environmental education efforts.

A special thanks is extended to all the areas that participated in the training, including spa therapists, housekeeping staff, seaweed removal workers, sewing staff, assistants, supervisors, maintenance personnel, as well as managers and executives who participated both in person and virtually. Special recognition goes to Lic. Lucelly Rosado and Biol. Vanessa Peña for their support and interest in making these workshops possible.

With initiatives like this, the tourism industry’s commitment to environmental protection and community well-being is reinforced, promoting sustainable practices that benefit both employees and visitors to these prestigious hotels.
